Chief Strategy Officer Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM)

Nitia Samuel serves as the Chief Strategy Officer of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), the nation’s Thought Leader in Science, Technology, Innovation and Economy (STIE). A seasoned policy analyst and ecosystem strategist with approximately 25 years of experience, her forte is in STIE policy and strategy development, strategic foresight, stakeholder engagement and translating complex data and transdisciplinary insights into impactful policies and actionable strategies. She has extensive experience in shaping national agendas, supporting high-level decision-making, and fostering collaborative ecosystems that generate sustainable socio-economic value.  

She works closely with multidisciplinary experts and cross-sectoral stakeholders to develop evidence-based policies, position papers, roadmaps, strategic action plans, and mission-oriented initiatives at national and regional levels. She serves on several national committees and contributed to regional platforms, including the APEC Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI) as former Chair of the Capacity Building Sub-group, and represented ASM at the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI). She holds a Master of Science in Philosophy of Science and Science & Technology Policy and is currently pursuing her Doctorate.
