Bett Asia School Challenge 2026

Bett Asia’s Schools Challenge returns for its fourth year in partnership with Google, empowering students to become champions for a better world and enabling teachers to earn their Bett Asia Educator Certificates.

This year’s challenge focuses on the importance of local, community-driven action to tackle today’s most pressing environmental and social issues. Through expert training and the use of Google tools, including Gemini, teams will develop solutions specific to issues faced by their local communities, considering how they can create real, lasting impact in the places they call home.

Finalist teams will present their solutions live at Bett Asia in Kuala Lumpur on 24 September!

Open to teams from: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The Challenge

Your mission is to design an innovative technology solution that tackles an environmental and/or social issue affecting your local community. Through dedicated training sessions, you’ll learn how to use Google tools – including Gemini – to shape your ideas. These tools will help support every stage of your project development, from refining concepts to generating prototype images that help bring your solutions to life.

Competition Tracks

For K–12 Students (Ages 13–17)

Design a technology-based solution to raise awareness and/or solve a key challenge in your community.

Think about challenges related to the environment, health, education, safety, or community wellbeing. How could technology help make life better for people around you?

For Higher Education Students (Ages 17+)

Develop a tech-driven solution such as an AI tool, data-driven platform, sensor-based system, or app that helps your local community with a prevalent challenge you have identified.

For example, can your idea help monitor energy use, reduce waste, protect natural resources, or model climate risks within your local community?
