Alessia Centamore

Faculty language and literacy leader Sri KDU Klang

Alessia Centamore is Head of English and Faculty Leader for Language and Literacy at Sri KDU International School Klang, where she leads English, EAL provision, and faculty oversight of the Mandarin and Malay departments. Originally from Sicily and multilingual herself — she works across Italian, English, Mandarin, French, and Polish — Alessia brings both a professional and lived understanding of what it means to learn, and belong, in more than one language.

Over some seven years in international schools across Asia and Europe, she has specialised in EAL curriculum design and multilingual education, co-designing the Foundational English Programme at XCL World Academy in Singapore, and holding SIOP and WIDA certification alongside experience across the IB MYP and DP. She holds a BA in Linguistic Mediation and Intercultural Communication, and a Master's in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Her work centres on the conditions that help multilingual learners feel confident enough to participate fully: not just the language to do so, but the sense of belonging that makes them want to.
