We’re delighted to announce that Professor Sungsup Ra, one of Asia’s most respected voices in education and development, will take the main stage on Day One of Bett Asia 2025.
A former Deputy Director General and Deputy Group Chief of the Sectors Group at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Professor Ra brings over 35 years of experience driving transformational change across education, climate, energy, and economic policy. During his tenure at ADB, he led cross-sector strategies and major initiatives tackling climate financing, energy transition, food security, the regional learning crisis, and much more.
Currently, Professor Ra is a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University’s Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC), where his research focuses on the future of skills development in Asia, an urgent priority in the age of automation and AI. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management (KDI School), and holds advisory roles with the International Financing Facility for Education (IFFEd), the International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT), and the NTU Entrepreneurship Academy.
In 2021, he authored Powering a Learning Society During an Age of Disruption, a landmark publication in Springer’s Education in the Asia-Pacific Region series. The book makes a compelling case for agile, inclusive education systems that support lifelong learning and co-creation across government, academia, and industry.
With additional leadership roles such as Chief Sector Officer for Sustainable Development and Climate Change at ADB, and earlier experience at Samsung and the Korean National Pension, Professor Ra brings deep expertise across public, private, and academic spheres.
