Re-designing flipped classrooms for deeper learning
Many flipped classroom implementations struggle with low engagement, surface-level learning, and unclear evidence of student understanding, despite strong intentions to promote active learning. This session shares a practical redesign of a flipped lesson using the Community of Inquiry framework to strengthen cognitive, social, and teaching presence through structured micro-learning videos, guided notes, jigsaw collaboration, and multiple low-stakes digital assessments.
Attendees will explore how small but intentional instructional design changes, such as chunking learning content, tracking engagement using interactive video tools, and embedding peer teaching strategies can significantly improve learner participation and conceptual understanding in blended environments.
