Pengiran Dr Mohd Iskandar Pg Hj Petra
Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education (Brunei Darussalam)
Pengiran Dr Mohd Iskandar Pg Hj Petra is currently the Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Corporate) at the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam, where he oversees policy development, strategic planning, international relations, corporate communications, and governance in support of Brunei Vision 2035.
Before his current position, Dr Iskandar was an Associate Professor at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), with expertise in engineering, innovation, and digital transformation. At UBD, he held several key leadership positions, including Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Integrated Technologies, and Director of Innovation.
He has led major initiatives in education reform, digital transformation, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in education, including helping to spearhead Brunei’s Generative AI Guidance for Education. He has also represented Brunei internationally in ASEAN, SEAMEO, and global education platforms.
Dr Iskandar’s career reflects a strong commitment to bridging academia, policy, and national development, with contributions spanning patents, research publications, and innovation awards that support Brunei’s progress towards a knowledge-driven economy.
