Redefining the role of universities and technical colleges

The traditional lines between academia and TVET have blurred due to shifting economic priorities. No longer are students only choosing courses that may lead to a future career, but they also want to gain an ‘experience’ too. But how can a curriculum support this?

For too long, subject pathways have been too rigid, sometimes only providing narrow opportunities for future graduates. However, through new initiatives, curriculum design, and partnerships, universities and technical colleges can create flexible learning experiences that truly prepare their students for the real world.

Join Professor Abhi Veerakumarasivam, the Provost of Sunway University, as he shares his experiences of collaborating with industry partners to ensure they understand the expectations of modern graduates, how a partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) has provided new opportunities through transnational education, and how learning through failures can be the next step towards success.
