Learning without signal: Addressing equity gaps in education

In many remote and disparate communities across Southeast Asia, limited electricity and internet access continues to create a digital divide, restricting access to online learning resources and hindering the development of essential digital skills.

This session will begin with a brief presentation by Futuresource, providing an overview of internet connectivity across the region, benchmarked against countries with leading education systems. A panel of educators and telecom industry experts will then examine the challenges of teaching in low-connectivity environments and discuss practical strategies to overcome these barriers and advance educational equity.

Aimed at educators, policymakers, edtech providers, and telecom professionals, this session offers valuable insights into the intersection of technology and education in underserved regions. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the systemic challenges, discover scalable low-tech solutions, and learn how cross-sector collaboration can drive more inclusive, resilient learning environments.
