Critical thinking, collaboration, and careers: Using AI with students

While students should understand how to use AI tools constructively, educators still need to prepare them adequately for industry or future studies.

This keynote session explores how universities can balance the rise of AI tools with the need to cultivate students’ critical thinking and independent judgement. Join Professor Venky Shankararaman, Professor of Information Systems (Education) and Vice Provost (Education) at Singapore Management University (SMU) as he considers why traditional assessments can still play a vital role in ensuring academic integrity and deeper learning, even in an AI-enabled environment.

Professor Venky will also highlight the importance of global collaboration among universities to establish consistent guidance on AI, creating a more cohesive experience for students worldwide.

This session will highlight how responsible integration of AI prepares graduates for industry and future learning, equipping them with both digital fluency and discipline-specific expertise.
