Najelaa Shihab

Founder and CEO Sekolah Murid Merdeka and Sekolah.mu

Najelaa Shihab earned her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from the Faculty of Psychology, University of Indonesia majoring in developmental and educational psychology. After she started her career as a teaching staff member at the same campus, she decided to establish Sekolah Cikal in 1999. Cikal is currently located in 9 locations in various cities in Indonesia, serving thousands of students – from preschool to high school, and also Kampus Guru Cikal. 

Najelaa Shihab has initiated several education organisations that focus on digital learning, including: Inibudi.org (2012), a non-profit foundation that distributes online and offline learning videos on various subjects, professions and education levels; Sinedu.id (2016), an online platform that curates movies that can be used as learning resources in a school context; Sekolah.mu (2019), a blended learning platform that provides personalised classes for students and management system for schools; Sekolah Murid Merdeka (2019), the first blended learning school in Indonesia from early childhood to high school level that operate in more than 15 cities in Indonesia, with more than 45 hubs; Talentics (2019), an assessment platform used by HR leaders and employers for recruitment and talent management; and Karier.mu (2020), an education platform for jobseekers.
