OxEd & Assessment is a University of Oxford spinout company which truly has research at its core. The company was founded by Professor Charles Hulme to take research into assessing and developing children’s oral language and literacy through to practical applications in schools. OxEd’s mission is to translate research evidence into practical application by providing world-class assessments, interventions, and training, to improve educational outcomes for children, with a particular focus on children at risk of educational difficulties.
OxEd are the creators of the NELI Programme, one of the best-evidenced oral language interventions globally. The strong research behind NELI led to it being provided to 10k primary schools in England through funding from Department for Education as part of its response to the Covid pandemic. To date, more than 600,000 assessments have been completed using our oral language assessment - LanguageScreen, identifying more than 100,000 children who would benefit from targeted support.
