Dr Sharmini Siva Vikaraman

Head of the Research and Innovation Department English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC), Ministry of Education

Dr Sharmini Siva Vikaraman is the Head of the Research and Innovation Department at the English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC), Ministry of Education, Malaysia. With 27 years of experience in education, she has developed expertise in academic research, classroom action research, and teacher professional development.

Dr Sharmini holds a PhD in Education Administration and has contributed significantly to strengthening research capacity and professional learning among English language educators. At the national level, she has coordinated and served as a Master Trainer for major educational programmes and initiatives, including the Highly Immersive Programme (HIP), Remedial Instruction, the English Enhancement Programme for Schools (PPKBIS), and Action Research.Her professional interests focus on empowering teachers to become reflective practitioners and teacher-researchers who use evidence to address classroom needs and improve teaching and learning. To date, she has contributed to 16 publications covering areas such as school leadership, classroom management, and post-training support.

Currently, Dr Sharmini is developing a professional module on classroom action research to support teachers in identifying classroom issues, implementing interventions, analysing evidence, and enhancing professional practice. She is committed to advancing evidence-informed English language teaching and practitioner research. Her achievements include recognition for graduating on time and receiving publication awards.
