Creating innovative and engaging opportunities for learners through emerging technologies
This session explores how TVET courses can combine practical expertise with emerging and green technologies to create distinctive, skills-equipped study pathways into careers.
Drawing from Dr Anusuya Kaliappan’s work in teacher education, manufacturing, and product design, she will demonstrate how artificial intelligence can support design ideation before production, while virtual and augmented reality can deepen engagement, presentation skills and learner confidence.
Participants will learn how technology can serve skills development, and how ethical AI use should be embedded in teaching. The session connects classroom learning with changing industry practice, helping institutions expose learners to current tools even when budgets and facilities are constrained. Green principles, including responsible material selection, reduced waste, and environmental awareness, are integrated into the design and making process.
TVET leaders, employers and decision-makers will leave with practical ideas for building inclusive, industry-relevant pathways that value vocational capability and improve learners’ readiness for employment and future teaching roles.
