Mr. Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) Ministry of Education Brunei Darussalam

Mr Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman is the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education Brunei Darussalam starting 3rd January 2019.

Prior to his current position, he was appointed as Acting Special Duties Office on October 2018. In May 2018, he was promoted as an Assistant Director and was put in charge of Academic Section, Department of Schools. He was a member of the Governing Board of SEAMEO INNOTECH [2016-2019].

In 2016, he was entrusted by the Ministry to lead a project, ‘The Recruitment and Management of Specialised Teachers and Head of Specialised Teachers for English and Mathematics’. As a project leader, he was invited to co-present the Brunei Darussalam Literacy and Numeracy Coaching Programme (LNCP), an Embedded Practice at UKFIET Conference, Oxford University, United Kingdom in 2017.

Mr Aliuddin was selected to join the professional development programme - Brunei Top 100 Leaders Program (B100) from March 2015 - April 2016. He was appointed as Head of Cluster 5, Department of Schools in 2015 and was responsible for overseeing 29 schools in Cluster 5.

He also held various positions in schools earlier. He began his career as an Education Officer (Science Teacher) in 1996 and later appointed as a Principal in 2010.

Mr Aliuddin graduated from Universiti Brunei Darussalam with Bachelor in Science Education (Honours), majoring in Chemistry. He is married with four children.
